Fall Basketball

Welcome to First Baptist Athletics - 2024 Fall Basketball!

The First Baptist Athletics Basketball program is designed for players of all skill levels. Our goal is to teach basketball in an environment that emphasizes fun and competition without sacrificing good sportsmanship and respect for others. All practices and games will be held in the new Denny Barrett Fieldhouse at First Baptist Athletics at 8600 N. College Ave, Indianapolis, IN.

Age Divisions
Basketball divisions are offered for girls ages 4 to 12 and boys ages 4 to 13, based on the participant's age as of August 1.

There are a couple changes to the age groups for Fall 2024. Girls divisions will now be 7-8 year olds, 9-10 year olds and 11-12 year olds. If we do not have enough girls for the 11-12 year old league we will let everyone know in a timely manner.

All divisions will have one practice per week and a Saturday game until weeknight games begin in lieu of practices, with these exceptions:

6 Coed, 5 Coed, and 4 Coed games - Sundays as well as 9-10 Boys and 11-13 Boys games on Sundays.

Practices for 6 year old's will begin at 4:15pm during the week.

4-year-old & 5 Year Old division info:
The 4 and 5 year olds will only play on Sundays. Their division format is structured into 20 minute practices followed by a game in which the coaches are heavily involved. The 4 and 5 year-old division participants are too young to play full games; however, this division is a great introduction to the basic concepts of basketball. The 4-year-old schedule is as follows:

Equipment/Supplies

Participants should bring a water bottle and wear tennis shoes, socks, shorts (or sweatpants), t-shirts to practices and games. First Baptist Athletics will provide a game jersey. Kneepads are not required. Please DO NOT bring your own basketball to the FBA gym. Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer coaches are needed for every team. Please consider volunteering as a head coach or assistant coach when registering your child. A criminal background check is required for all coaches.

Head Coaches are asked to attend a coaches meeting before the season starts and will receive rosters, team schedules, and uniforms. Coaches will lead drills at practices and oversee game activities.

Assistant Coaches lend a significant helping hand to head coaches at practices and games.

Scoreboard and Scorebook Volunteers are recruited by each head coach to represent the team in either operating the scoreboard or keeping the official scorebook for the game. Please proactively communicate to your coaches your willingness to help.
