Steve Carr - Steve Carr joined First Baptist Athletics as the Athletic Director in
2013. Steve brings to FBA a background in non-profit leadership and a
passion for seeing youth and families experience sports in a healthy and life
enriching way. A graduate of Purdue University, Steve has been working in
the non profit sector for 12 years. Steve is married to his wife, Lindsey, and they have three children in elementary school, Jack,
Crosby, and Jonah, who
have participated in many FBA programs.
Greg Akers - Greg grew up playing baseball, basketball, and soccer at First Baptist Athletics in the 1970s, as his father, Ken, was instrumental in building the program and served as commissioner for several years throughout the 1980s. Greg continued on to play those same three sports at North Central High School prior to attending and graduating from Indiana University in 1993. He has been a volunteer coach at FBA since 1993, and he and his wife, Sally, have both coached their own three kids at FBA. Greg has been on the FBA Board since 1997, serving as both a member and Co-Chairman at various points throughout this time. Greg is a financial advisor and Certified Financial Planner™ in Indianapolis.
Mike Burnham - Mike and his wife, Sarah, “found” First Baptist Athletics by simply driving by the unique Indy north side greenspace in 2012. Since that time, Mike has coached over 30 basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, and soccer teams for his three daughters and one son. Besides coaching, he volunteers his time at FBA on field prep activities, light facilities and equipment maintenance, office administrative work, and concession stand duties. Mike was the FBA “Volunteer of the Year” winner in 2015 and has served on the FBA Board since 2015. He is a financial director with an information technology focus for Eli Lilly and Company.

Jon Pactor - Jon Pactor began to volunteer at First Baptist Athletics in 1988 when his wife Andrea volunteered him without his knowledge. He has remained a loyal, committed volunteer for almost 30 years because of FBA’s emphasis on sportsmanship, civility, and community. He has also been a loyal and committed husband for 38 years. Their two kids, Jacob and Ellen, participated for years at FBA. Jon coached boys’ baseball and girls’ softball. He ran Little League tournaments. He has officiated basketball games since the early 1990s. Jon helped organize the 40th anniversary for FBA and has helped with fundraising at FBA. He has been on the FBA board for about 10 years. He is a loyal and committed alumnus of Wabash College. He has been a solo practitioner attorney for 41 years, concentrating his practice in attorney malpractice, legal ethics, and attorney fees. Pat Walter and Jon are a comedy team when they referee together although they do not see too many coaches laughing.
George Robinson
Ron Rutland Jr. - Ron and Meshia’s children have been active in First Baptist Athletics since
2013 with Ronald III playing basketball since 2013 and McKenzi playing
basketball and volleyball starting in 2015. Ron has been a FBA recreation basketball coach since 2014 and has
expanded the program to include a summer basketball travel league and multiple basketball
skills development clinics. Ron became a
FBA board member in 2015 and is the agency owner for Rutland Insurance and
Financial Services.
Tiffany Sanders - Tiffany and her husband, Mike, are the parents of 11 active children who participate in a variety of youth sports and activities. A graduate from Indiana University with a degree in Elementary Education and Master’s degrees in Special Education, Language Ed, and Educational Leadership, Tiffany has had an abundance of roles within the educational setting. Currently, she is the Principal and Outreach Director at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. For the past eight years, Tiffany and her family have had numerous roles within First Baptist Athletics. The Sanders family has been a part of the soccer, softball, baseball and basketball programs. Tiffany brings her positive and forward thinking attitude as well as excellent leadership skills to the table; and, is truly excited to serve as a church board member.
Ed Skarbeck - Ed has many fond memories of growing up in Washington Township in the 1970’s, which include his first experiences in organized sports teams at First Baptist Athletics (baseball and basketball.) Ed continued on to play baseball at North Central High School and Hanover College, graduating in 1988. The attraction to FBA was strong when it came time to find a place for his two daughters to participate in a youth recreational sports program. Not much had changed (which is a great thing!) at FBA, as the values of community, faith, and sportsmanship remained as strong as ever. Ed has been a volunteer at FBA since 2002, serving as a coach and league commissioner through 2011. Ed joined the FBA Board in 2009, and has continued to serve as a member since. Ed currently lives in Carmel; he and his brother are partners of an Investment Management firm in Indianapolis.
Brent Smith - For 18 years, Brent has been involved at First Baptist Athletics with coaching, volunteering, working clinics and doing maintenance. As a youngster, his son played soccer, baseball and basketball at FBA with Brent coaching several of those teams. Brent works in the marketing department at Butler University and also coaches high school baseball. He has served on the FBA Board of Directors since 2011.
Kevin Stitle - Kevin recently relocated back to Indianapolis from Snowmass
Village, Colorado with his wife, Alli, and their three boys. Kevin is a
sports enthusiast and loves the outdoors. He has served as a volunteer coach at
FBA in basketball, soccer and baseball since 2012. Kevin graduated from Miami of Ohio then received his Masters in
Business Administration at the IU Kelley School of Business. For the last
12 years, he operated and managed a fresh burger concept, 96th Street
Steakburgers. He is now Managing Partner of SKK Investments, LLC. Kevin’s passion for volunteering has included several positions for the Vince
Gill & Amy Grant Golf Classic, Snowmass Rodeo Recycling, Aspen Food &
Wine Festival, AVSC Paralympic World Cup, Aspen Winternational and he has also
served on the Environmental Board Advisory Committee for the Town of Snowmass
Village. Kevin recently joined the Brebeuf Alumni Board. Kevin is passionate about the First Baptist Athletics mission and is thrilled to
serve on the FBA Board.
Pat Walter - Pat Walter and his wife Liz have been involved at First Baptist Athletics since 1995 when their two sons became involved in the program. Pat coached baseball and basketball for many years at FBA until his sons aged out of the program. He is a long time resident of Indianapolis - coming up through the historic TAB Rec Program where he was involved into his early 30s. Pat has a degree in Psychology from Wabash college . He is now retired from a career in Human Resources. Jon Pactor and Pat Walter are a mainstay as basketball officials in FBA’s Friday night 11-13 Boys League.
The FBA Board of Directors meet on a quarterly basis at 6:00pm on the first Tuesday of each quarter (January, April, July, and October).
