The New FBA Blog!

Welcome to the FBA blog! We know the FBA community has a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to youth sports, and we wanted a way to broadcast those voices and perspectives. In its first year, the FBA blog will present eight posts from experts, players, parents, and staff offering enlightenment, food for thought, or simply a great story about youth sports. Enjoy . . .

When Amy Brown’s eight-year-old son, Ronan, walked off the FBA soccer field this past fall, she asked him how his first practice went. She certainly wasn’t expecting his sincere reply: “I loved it. It felt like freedom.”

Amy knew all three of her kids—Stella, 6, Ronan, 8, and Niall, 10-- were having a hard time with the isolated lifestyle enforced on them by the pandemic. But she had no idea how much rejoining the FBA community would mean to Ronan.

“As an FBA family for the past five years,” Amy says, “we know that giving children a safe place to learn, play and challenge themselves is an important part of their growth and development. But this year, more than ever, FBA became a lifeline to some sense of normalcy for our family. The impact was deeply felt.”

For almost a year now, the children of our community have had their school lives, home lives, and social lives upended. That’s why FBA made the difficult decision to keep our doors open during the pandemic, to give kids some semblance of normalcy. We recognized the valuable life lessons, socialization, exercise, and fun that FBA brings to kids’ lives. With safety measures and some ingenuity, we provided kids the “freedom” of playing youth sports once again.
