About the Director
George W. Robinson and the Robinson family connection to First Baptist began in 1960. The year the church moved to its present location, George's father became the Minister of Music. George grew up at First Baptist and attended Broad Ripple High School, graduating in 1967. He graduated from Bacone College, an American Baptist College for Native Americans, in 1969. He received his Bachelor Degree in Political Science from St. Louis University in 1980, and has done postgraduate work in that field. George participated in adult athletics as a youth at First Baptist before FBA existed. He also played college basketball. George has always loved sports and kids. Yet sports without sportsmanship was meaningless to him even as a young man. This powerful combination of Christian regard for others and sportsmanship in athletics has always been central to George's view of what his ministry is about.
He began working for FBA in the fall of 1989, and became Athletic Director in March of 1990. When asked how many kids he has, he replies matter of factly, "3000."George W.
